Allensortmomhouse_2Auction2 Kissingcutout

These are pictures of me sorting, packing and preparing my mom's home for sale.  I went up to Quincy, Illinois on August 1st and arrived at about 10PM.  I right away worked till 1 or 2AM.  I woke up at 6AM on August 2nd (Saturday) and quickly got the items outside to have a quick garage sale.  People were showing up between 7:30AM and 8AM while we frantically dragged the items outside.  The sale went on till 4PM that day.  For the fun of it, we had all our family and friends pose with a cardboard cut out of Dolly Parton (this was an item that was for sale).  We worked all through the rest of the day on Saturday and till 5PM on Sunday.  I then drove back to Omaha and got to bed real late.

My sister, brother-in-law, nephew and myself all showed up for the second phase of this mission.  We arrived in Quincy, Illinois on  August 13th (Wednesday).  I got there about 3PM on that day.  Of course, we started working right away.  We packed boxes for the auction company, prepared smaller items for the garage sale, and donated items items to non-profit organizations (for the items that would not sell at all).  The auction company arrived on August 16th (Saturday) to pick up all the left over contents of the house.  I finally left my mom's house on August 17th and did not get down the road till about 5PM.  The house is totally empty at this time.

Now the auction company will auction off the contents of the house.  Another auction company will have an open house on September 2nd and then auction off the house on September 4th.

Let's say that the whole family was very tired after these two trips to Quincy.  You can click on the photos above to see a larger version of each photo.
