I went to renew my car registration yesterday.  since it was the end of the month, I expected that the lines would be terribly long.  I was rather lucky because I was the very first person to be waited on.  I think the cold weather probably had to do with the fact that not many people were there.

I think it was last year that I made a horrible mistake when trying to apply the car registration sticker to the license plate.  There is one rule to be sure to follow.  Never apply the car registration sticker when it is really cold out.  The sticker would not stick to my license plate.  By then the stickers were getting pretty mangled and were unusable.  I took the tore up stickers back to the car registration place and they kindly replaced them for free.  I then waited till it was a little warmer.  When I say that I waited till it was a little warmer, I really meant the word "little".  I needed to have the car registration stickers on the car by the 1st of the month, so I came up with an idea.  First, I poured hot water on the present stickers and scraped them off with a flat knife.  That was a chore, but the old stickers came off pretty easy.  Then I poured some more hot water on the license place to warm it up.  I then quickly wiped it down and applied the new car registration sticker.  This time the sticker went on fine and stayed on.
