This year I decided to renew my license plates online rather than go in person.  I normally have to drive to the Department of Motor Vehicles building on my lunch break.  There can be a long line depending on when you go to renew your license plates.  To save gas, wear and tear on my car, waiting in a long line, and having to rush over my lunch hour, I decided to renew online.  It was a rather easy process which required me to enter some information from a card that I got in the mail.  I was a little disappointed that there was a “portal” fee for doing the transaction online.  I figured I was saving the Department of Motor Vehicles time and effort by doing this online.  At the same time, it was only a small fee and was well worth it compared to the hassle of going in person.

One year I got the license plate stickers around the time that we had cold weather.  Currently, we have cold weather and snow on the ground.  So, I can hope that things go smoother by the time I get the stickers this year.  I may need to take off the plates and take them inside to warm them up to room temperature.  That way I can put the stickers on the plates without them peeling off.  You can read about a previous experience I had with putting the stickers on the plates in cold weather by clicking here.
