I got a Clarity Amplified Photo Phone for my mom recently.  It has all the features that would be good for someone in a nursing home.  First of all, it has a spot that you can put pictures of the people that she wants to call.  All she has to do is lift up the phone and then press the picture button to dial the person that she wants to call.  One of the pictures is of me and will dial me directly in Omaha, Nebraska.  The phone also provides sound amplification and a flashing ringer for those that are hard of hearing.  The phone has some great benefits that really suit my mom’s needs.

However; the phone must of accidently got knocked on the floor and the plastic covering came off of where the photos were.  Some how in the process, the plastic covering and the parts to the pictures got lost.  I went to the Clarity website and found a customer service number to call.  I asked them how much it would cost for me to buy the plastic covering and the backing part where the pictures belong.  To my surprise, they shipped me these parts free of charge to my home.  Their customer service is great!

I also got my mom a toll free phone number so that her friends and relatives can call her toll free.  I use the service through Ringcentral.com.  I get text messages whenever someone leaves my mom a phone message if she is not able to answer the phone.  That way I can let my mom know that someone tried to call her.  I also have downloaded the iPhone application called RingCentral Mobile.  I can press some buttons on my phone to dial my mom’s phone first.  Once my mom answers, it will automatically dial the person that I told it to call.  So, instead of my mom having to pull out a phone book or put her glasses on, I can remotely dial any phone number my mom wants to call.  My mom can also dial me toll free by pressing the picture of me that is on phone.  I also have made it so that my mom’s toll free phone number will not ring her room if she is sleeping or off eating in the lunchroom.  Either way, my mom will get her messages because I will relay them to her.  I basically pay a monthly fee to let the service do most of the work for me.
