PostHeaderIcon My Halloween Pumpkin I Decorated

Pumpkin that I made

Here I am with my wonderfully decorated pumpkin.  I had no idea what to do when I was told to pick out a pumpkin and start decorating it.  I ended up taking a wet paper towel and wiping up all the mistakes that I made.  I looked around and saw that a lot of other people were giving their pumpkin hair.  So, I decided that my pumpkin was going to go blond.  I dont’ think I will ever perfect making ears.  I was told that you just make a question mark on the side of his face in order to make it look like an ear.  I would say that my pumpkin did not turn out too bad.

PostHeaderIcon My Halloween Adventure – Corn maze and decorating

Halloween sign 2011
My Halloween adventure involved helping a friend to decorate her yard.  Here is some pictures of the decorating process.  Above you will find the “welcome” sign.

Halloween grave 2011The Halloween graves made out of garbage bags.
At night, they produce an effect of raised dirt.

Halloween witch 2011

The witch in the coffin.  A friend of hers made the coffin.
Then she lined it with red felt.
A shirt was then stuffed with newspapers and
then a hand was attached to the sleeve.

don’t look that convincing that I am in danger.

Mexican restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska

First stop after this, was the Carlos O’Kelly’s here in Omaha, Nebraska.
Rather good Mexican food they serve.

Skinny Bones Corn Maze near Omaha, Nebraska
Next stop, was Skinny Bones corn maze which is located near Blair Nebraska.  I went with some friends through this ten acre long corn maze.  Except on Saturday nights, it is the haunted night.  They had monsters and creatures that were within the corn maze.  One character we came to was a person in a straight jacket wearing a hockey mask.  He was just standing there in the middle of the path.  I have to admit that it is rather weird trying to walk around a guy dressed like this.  You feel that at any moment that he will jump out at you.  We also met a guy dressed as a chef, but not a very trusting chef since he had blood all over him.  I think he was wanting one of our ears for a meal that he was fixing.  I can’t say he actually said this. But between the screams from my friends, I think it sounded like what he was asking for.  One friend told me that he told her that we were going the wrong way.  Now who is going to trust a bloody chef that we are going in the right direction?  We went ahead and went that direction since we were already lost.  We came to a circle and ended up coming back the same direction to where the bloody chef was.  The chef delightfully said in a scary voice, “I told you that was the wrong way”.

PostHeaderIcon Watching the Zombies in Omaha Area

Allen next to a zombie character
On October 15th, 2011 (Saturday), I went to the Zombie Walk Omaha.  It was kind of an early Halloween activity.  This is where a bunch of people dress up as zombies and walk the streets in a parade form.  They encourage the people to play the part by dragging their feet, moaning, and saying “need brains”.  Around 2pm, they started to apply make up to the people who were taking part in the event.  The actual walk took place around 6pm.  I am pictured above next to a zombie character figurine (not a real person in this one).  Behind me, you can see the limousine hearse.  I think you can rent the hearse for parties and other events.

PostHeaderIcon Trick or Treaters Pass My House on Halloween

I prepared in advance for all the Trick or Treaters for Halloween night.   I decided to retire early that night, so I thought I would go outside and try to get rid of the candy.  I stepped outside on the porch and saw a few kids at the house next door.  Sadly, I saw them walk past my house and go to the house on the other side of my house.  Am I that scary?  I did not even have on a costume.  I then thought that maybe I need to make it more obvious that I was handing out candy.  With the candy bowled under my arm, I went down the steps a little more.  Still more kids would pass by and not even stop at my house.  At that point I would nod my head at them and say “Hello”.  But, still they would walk on by to the next house.  At this point, I was frustrated and decided to go inside.  I sat at my desk and then all of sudden the door bell rang.  I got up out of my seat and went to the door.  There stood several Trick or Treaters waiting for candy.  Why is it when I finally got comfortable at my desk that Trick or Treaters decide to ring the door bell?  But, yet they would walk on by my house if I was standing on the porch or stairs.
